Incompetent Cervix Awareness Campaign Works to Build Awareness and Support for Suffers of Cervical Incompetence Everywhere

By gaining nationwide observation of

Incompetent Cervix Awareness Day.

Minneapolis, Minnesota  –Each year 1 in 100 pregnancies experience what is known as an Incompetent Cervix or Cervical Insufficiency. Women are blindsided when they receive their diagnosis because there is simply not enough awareness, resources, or support. That’s why Incompetent Cervix Awareness (a support group on Facebook, featuring more than 8000 members) is partnering with ICAWARE.org to create Incompetent Awareness Day on March 4th. This is a day for women around the world to not have to think. A day they can take a break from being constant warriors for the cause and know that the conversation is being started.

Incompetent Cervix is said to account for 20% of 2nd-trimester miscarriages. There are proven ways to lower this statistic. Through raising awareness, we can start the conversation about how we, as a whole can provide better resources to those suffering from this condition and by doing so, create a community of support for everyone affected by Incompetent Cervix. If even one clinic, could step forward and offer women early cervical scans, we could drastically cut down on the amount of suffering happening to these families.

“If women are constantly being told that it’s super uncommon and it’s very rare,” said Jessica, Founder of the Incompetent Cervix Awareness Campaign. “Then we are setting up these women for failure. American Pregnancy Association’s page on Incompetent Cervix says those exact words. Is 1 in 100 too rare to care? This is why the conversation needs to be had.”

March 4th just makes sense. March forth. Keep going,” said Julianne from Wisconsin, Creator of the Incompetent Cervix Awareness support group on Facebook. “This is an opportunity to empower and educate everyone while giving us mamas a break.”

Through the first annual Incompetent Cervix Awareness Day, women around the world will feel heard, they will be seen. They can rest assured that someone cares about their suffering. Women who have lost a child because of Incompetent Cervix can take some comfort in knowing that with awareness comes research and resources. It doesn’t take having an incompetent cervix to be affected by it. ICAday is for everyone affected by this condition.
